Songaila gets Bullish

SI.com is reporting that "(t)he Kings, who changed their stance on matching an offer for Songaila once they signed forward Shareef Abdur-Rahim on Aug. 12, rescinded their qualifying offer" allowing the Bulls to sign the restricted free agent for $2.2 million this season:

"Songaila has a player option for the second year, though both parties
expect the deal to be renegotiated after this season, when Songaila will be
eligible to sign for the $5.5 million mid-level salary-cap exception"

This move by the Bulls gives them one of the deepest frontcourts in the Eastern conference with Malik Allen, Tyson Chandler, Eddy Curry (likely returnng for one year), Antonio Davis, Luol Deng, Andres Nocioni, Othella Harrington making drives to Chicago's basket like hitting a brick wall.
