Spurs centers redux cheaply

The San Antonio Spurs abrupt youthful facelift was done quietly and quickly; trading away Rasho (to Raptors for Bonner and Eric Williams) and losing consistent Mohammed's (signed as free agent with Detroit) then reacting by replacing them with CBA graduate/former "McDonald’s High School All-America Team (along with LeBron James, Luol Deng and Chris Paul", Jackie Butler (restricted free agent not matched by Knicks) and Marcus Camby back-up in Denver, 3 year vet/2nd round draft pick (#41), Dutchman Francisco Elson (wasn't going to get much playing time with the re-signing of Nene) who both have showed the potential to post similar numbers to Mohammed's and Nestervoic's per 40min average the difference being of course, the experience.

  • Butler: 15.7pts 9.9r 1.7blk
  • Elson: 9.6pts 8.6r 1.5blk
  • Bonner: 14.4pts 7r 0.6blk 42%3pt

  • Mohammed: 15.1pts 12r 1.5blk
  • Nesterovic: 11.0pts 9.4r 2.3blk

outgoing combined years played: 16 (8 each)
incoming combined year played: 4 +4 (Butler's 3 games in 2005 don't count
but Elson's 4 seasons in Europe might)

But what can be expected from the Spurs is that they eventually fall on now 9 year vet Tim Duncan in the middle as he may have to prove his worth yet again (after having his worst stats season yet) in San Antonio if his new frontcourt mates don't exactly pan out.
