LeBron is greedy ...(rightfully so)

Last Friday the Cavs offered Lebron $8o million and basically have set the table for this year's free agent frenzy.

July 1st marked the first day franchises were allowed to begin negotiating with free agents but with signing day being the 12th we now find ouserelves one week away with a ton of reports flooding in:

  • the 24 yr old Nene sets the bar up high for free agent big men and re-signs in Denver for a whopping $60 million (6yr) the Nuggets expect nothing less than a double/double season

  • Peja Stojakovic slaps Bird and Pacers bolts to the Hornets for 5yr/$64 million leaving them with nothing to show for the storied Artest trade

  • Piatkowski and 40% 3pt career shooting joins the Suns and signs a 2yr veterans' minimum

  • Vladimir Radmanovic will be spreading the floor for Kobe in Lakerland and signs a 5yr/$30 million (mid level exception)

  • Jason Terry re-signs 6yr/$50 million in Dallas

  • Matt Harpring is expected to re-sign with the Jazz-4yr/$25 million

the Mighty Lebron has yet to respond (yiiiikes) and with all this money getting thrown around he's gotta be worth way more than $80 ...one more week to go

$$$Cha-Ching$$$

$80 million is the max he can get. It's stipulated in the NBA CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement).

LeBron, Wade, Carmelo, Bosh...the max deal they can get *this summer* is $80 million (or close to it) over 5 years.

If LeBron rejects this offer, then next summer he will become a restricted free agent, at which point the Cavs can offer him a $140ish million, 6-year deal. Again, these are max amounts set forth by the NBA.

Is LeBron worth more than $80 million? Of course. But that's all he can get this summer, and the same goes for anyone else in his draft year.

ahh ty nels long time no comment---:)

just trying to stir **** up

I appreciate that you give me credit for pounding out those kinds of numbers, but I assure you, I don't know **** about salary caps and contracts. My statistical knowledge is maxed out with fantasy basketball. The only thing I care about is if someone is in the last year of their contract, or if they just landed a fat contract.

And I'd never leave an anonymous comment. That's for chumps who know too much about salary caps and contracts. And for people who don't have their own blog promote and need every link they can get.
