Raptors give up on Araujo send him to Jazz for Humphries and Whaley

Back in 2004 the Raptors used their first round pick (8th overall) on the 6'10 BYU product Rafael Araujo. After two seasons Toronto has given up on him and shipped him to the Utah Jazz in exchange for rookie 2nd round pick 6'10 Robert Whaley and the 14th 2004 pick 6'9 Kris Humphries.

"We wish Rafael well and feel this
will be a positive move for both teams"
said Raptors president and general manager Bryan Colangelo.
"

On going to Utah Araujo said:

""One day fans boo you. Another day fans
cheer you," he said. "I think that's part of sports.
"

Other big men that were drafted that year include:
  • Dwight Howard (#1)
  • Biedrins (#11)
  • Robert Swift (#12)
  • Al Jefferson (#15)
  • David Harrison (#29)
  • Varejao (#30)
