New look T-Wolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves have undergone a transformation rarely seen. Back in 2004 the starting five looked like this:

C. Olowokandi
PF. Garnett
SF. Sczerbiak
SG. Sprewell
PG. Cassell

This year's version is now completely retooled with only one member remaining.

C. Blount
PF. Garnett
SF. Hassell
SG. Davis
PG. Jaric

So far this season, the soon to be 30 year old, Kevin Garnett has continued to put up All-Star numbers and is averaging a double double in ppg and rpg, his averages are down from last year but they are still over his career averages in almost every category:

22.2ppg +
11.3rpg +
79%ft +
33%3pt +
53%fg +
4.7apg +
1.3spg -
1.3bpg -

+=over avg
_=under avg

Which is why I fully agree with what McHale is doing over in Minnesota he has transformed this team into a team that rides its superstar to the end. Kevin Garnett is still worth an investment and is the kind of player you can build a team around. So the team they present to us is a team that is able now to run with the best in the west. Ricky Davis although maybe not quite the pure shooter Wally once proved to be, he is a more proven finisher who will give to Garnett the energy he needs to stay motivated. Defensively a duo of Davis and Hassell should be able to stop any guard in the western conference. While Jaric just towers over most point guards and Hudson/McCants off the bench in relief gives them a speedier look on the floor as well. In the frontcourt, Blount and Griffin have proven at least to have more of an offensive game than past centers Olowokandi and even Nesterovic despite their rebounding negligence.

This is the kind of stuff you like to hear from a teammate too:

"I've wanted to be here for the last five years,"
Davis said. "(Minnesota vice president of operations)
Kevin McHale has been working to get me and I hope
to pay him back for his confidence in me"

"He was everything I anticipated," Garnett said.
"He's energetic, he keeps going -- he was Ricky Davis.
When you get Ricky Davis, you get a high-energy player,
a guy who plays hard for 48 minutes.
"

Put all of this together and I would suggest to McHale to push for a uniform change to really get into the minds of both the fans and the players that this is a new group of players with loads of talent that are able to compete even dominate most teams in the western conference.

Think positive right...?
Hehe.
