After drafting Marcus Williams and reportedly signing Eddie House, The Sporting News is reporting that Jason Kidd's backup is no longer needed:

"Nets PG Jeff McInnis has been told to not even
think about reporting to camp this fall. McInnis,
who has worn out another welcome, is entering the second
year of a two-year, $7 million deal New Jersey
hopes to close out soon with a buyout
"

McInnis was signed as a free agent after being traded from Portland to Cleveland for Darius Miles, the soon to be 32 year old had knee surgery in last January and played in only 28 games last season where he mostly served as a cheerleader to fellow Tarheel; Vince Carter.
